Shop safely

Simple habits that keep you and your money safe.

Most people on Gombe360 are honest. These simple habits keep you safe with the few who aren't.

Buying nearby

  1. See the item first. Never pay for something you have not seen and checked.
  2. Meet in a busy public place during the day: a shopping plaza, a bank front or a busy junction. Bring a friend for expensive items.
  3. Test it. Switch on phones and electronics, check IMEI numbers, try clothes for size.
  4. Pay when you collect. Be careful with anyone who asks you to "pay first" or "send a deposit" before you have seen the item.

Buying from another town or state

  1. Choose verified businesses and read their reviews first.
  2. Ask for a video call or a fresh video of the exact item before paying.
  3. Pay into an account in the business's name, never into a different personal name. Keep the receipt.
  4. Agree delivery in writing: the price, who pays for delivery, the courier and when it will arrive. Ask for the waybill or tracking number.

Keep a record

Keep your WhatsApp chat, receipts and the seller's page link. If something goes wrong, they help our team and the police.

Warning signs

  • The price is far below what everyone else charges.
  • The seller is in a hurry and pushes you to decide now.
  • They ask for your BVN, ATM PIN, OTP or card details. Gombe360 and real sellers will never ask for these.
  • The account name for payment does not match the business.
  • They refuse a video call, or keep changing the meeting place.
